History
The LaPerm emerged around the early 80’s as a spontaneous mutation of cats bred for pest control. The breed founders were Linda and Richard Koehl from The Dalles, Oregon, whose cat Speedy gave birth to a curly-coated kitten, named Curly, from whom all LaPerms descend
Description
The LaPerm is a breed of cat. A LaPerm’s fur is curly, with the tightest curls being on the belly, throat and base of the ears.
Grooming and Physical Needs
Size: elegant & athletic build
- Grooming Needs: should be combed one to three times a week with longer coats needing to be combed more frequently.
- Coat Type: made up of soft waves, curls and ringlets, resembling a shaggy perm.
- Moulting: low shedding
- Exercise Needs: very playful with levels of high energy
- Average Life Span: 10-15 years

- Family: well suited for a family, but not clingy.
- Temperament: has a sense of humour and can be described as clownish.
