Tonkinese

History

The Tonkinese cat was originally the result of a Siamese to Burmese mating. They are two breeds from Southeast Asia in an attempt to create with a moderate body type, a less piercing voice than the Siamese but with the same nature as a Burmese.

Description

Tonkinese are a medium-sized cat, considered an intermediate type between the slender, long-bodied modern Siamese and British Burmese and the more “cobby”, or substantially-built American Burmese.

Grooming and Physical Needs

Size: Medium sized, with good muscular development. Males are generally larger than females

  • Coat Type: Four colours; Platinum, Champagne, Natural, and Blue
  • Moulting: low amount of shedding
  • Exercise Needs: teach them tricks and provide interactive toys to keep their mind and body exercised

Behaviour

  • Family: Tonkinese are firmly convinced that humans were put on Earth to love them
  • Temperament: Loving, social, active, playful...yet content to be a lap cat
