Dr Sarah Irwin
Certified Cat Trainer and Fear Free Professional.
RSPCA Vet and member of the community outreach team.
Dr. Sarah Irwin has been a vet for 10 years, with much of that time spent working in Shelter Medicine. Sarah believes all animals, no matter where they come from, should be granted the same level of care. She is now part of the Community Outreach team at RSPCA Victoria and is passionate about improving access to preventative care for all pets.
Last year Sarah completed her Post Graduate Certificate in International Animal Welfare, Ethics and Laws through the University of Edinburgh. Throughout this course she deepened her understanding of animal welfare, which helps her be a better vet and advocate for her patients.
Sarah has seen first-hand the impact stress has on cats while working in shelters. As a result, she now enjoys helping owners identify and reduce signs of stress in their cats, both at home and at the vets. Sarah recently completed her Fear Free Veterinary Professional Certificate and is looking forward to implementing what she has learnt into her daily practice at work.
Sarah has a big chunky tom cat called Squid and a little old man dog called Skippy at home, no prizes for guessing who’s the boss!
